History of Black Ohioans
Community Learning Group
The history of Ohio is often told as that of Presidential birthplaces, the fight with Michigan Territory over control of Toledo, and national athletic titles. Yet, this history remains incomplete without considering Black Ohioans and their contributions to the state.
How were fugitives from slavery treated in a so-called free state?
What institutions did Black people develop labor in order to survive?
In what ways can art help us understand Black experiences that history books left out?
Join MAG for a new Community Learning Group series and learn about the Black history-makers near you!
