MAG Open House – Our Cultural Lab

It may seem like we’ve been quiet lately, but behind the scenes, Maroon Arts Group has been fervently at work. In 2021, we embarked on a labor of love to preserve a significant piece of our heritage by entering into a purchase agreement for the historic Pythian Temple & Theatre. This endeavor was about more than just maintaining a space; it was about ensuring that Black cultural expression continues to thrive in our community. Despite facing numerous challenges, our dedication never wavered, and on November 30th, we triumphantly completed the purchase.

In recognition of the importance of community and the strength of our collective support, we are thrilled to extend a special invitation to you, as a valued supporter of Maroon Arts Group, to join us for a significant milestone in our journey. We invite you to the open house and soft opening of what we are now proudly calling our multipurpose Cultural Laboratory at the (formerly) York Mason Building—a cornerstone of the Bronzeville neighborhood.
